Social Marketing | Youth Alcohol Abuse Campaign

A public education campaign about youth drinking was developed for the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence – New Jersey that tells the hard facts in a series of four ads based on national and state statistics on the drinking habits of middle school children. A black and white advertising campaign was placed in local newspapers, and 11 x 17 posters were developed to educate teachers, parents and schools about the risks of underage drinking.

A separate package was developed with a good policy stamp theme and message and was mailed to legislators and the Governor to educate them on the startling facts on youth alcohol abuse in New Jersey. The package provided policy recommendations and presented the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence -New Jersey as an expert and policy partner for youth drinking issues in the state. The legislative campaign provided valid data and policy suggestions that once enacted would save the state money while providing appropriate treatment for teens who abused alcohol.
